OLD Safe Spaces – 8 Mandatory Requirements (OLD RESOURCES)

On this page you will find all the resources previously provided by QB to churches for the old 8 Mandatory Requirements.

Note that as of 1 April 2026, all churches are required to be working towards implementing the 10 Child Safe Standards as defined in the Child Safe Organisation Act, 2024.   These updated resources can be accessed through the Safe Spaces Page.

These resources are still being made available during the transition period where new resources are being developed and churches may still need to access old resources.

Mandatory Requirement 1

Statement of Commitment.

A Statement of Commitment clearly reflects your Church’s culture and values and how they relate to your dedication to ensuring the safety and well-being of Children, Young People, and Vulnerable Adults. The statement should explicitly declare your Church’s commitment to protecting Children, Young People, and Vulnerable Adults from harm.

Your Codes of Conduct are more than a requirement. They are a crucial pillar of our Safe Spaces Safeguarding Policy. They outline the expected standard behaviours of anyone in your Church environment, particularly in their interactions with Children, Young People and Vulnerable Adults. Your Codes of Conduct should clearly communicate your Church’s expectations of behaviour and the consequences if these expectations are not met.
