When Faith Snowballs

North East Baptist Church launched its first Alpha course three years ago with modest expectations, unsure how the community would respond. However, forty‑eight people attended the first week, surprising the leadership. The strong turnout marked the beginning of a much larger movement, as interest continued to build far beyond the church’s initial hopes.

Rapid Growth and Life Change

In the first year, attendance kept increasing as participants invited friends, eventually averaging seventy‑one weekly guests. Twenty‑three people chose to be baptised, crediting Alpha as a key turning point. This momentum continued into the second year, with eighty‑two attendees on average and twenty‑seven more baptisms, firmly establishing Alpha as a core part of church culture.

A Ministry Shaped by Faithfulness

Senior Pastor Peter Cosgrove attributes Alpha’s success not to strategic techniques but to consistent faithfulness and hospitality. The church has simply continued offering what God placed before them. As they prepare for future courses, they remain open to whatever unfolds, trusting that Alpha will keep shaping community life and fostering genuine journeys of faith.
