Our roots began as a ministry of the church and a service to the church, to better educate and equip the church about copyright laws, to protect the church from the consequences of copyright infringement and to encourage greater utilisation of copyrights in church services.
The main aim of the CCLI licences is to assist churches to find resources to use in their worship services as well as to ease and simplifying the administrative work in complying with copyright in Australia.
CCLI has a variety of licences available for churches, organisations and individuals. The three licences which most Australian churches utilise are:
- Church Copyright Licence – This permits churches to project or print out words and lyrics to worship songs and hymns
- Music Reproduction Licence – This allows you to photocopy or print sheet music.
- Church Video Licence – This provides the legal cover required to publicly show film clips and full-length movies from their select list of producers.
QB has organised a group deal with CCLI which entitles QB churches to a discount if they hold them through QB. Click Here to go to the QB Group Deals Section.
CCLI also has a service called SongSelect. It is a music database and software platform which can be used as a resource for churches to obtain music, songs and other resources. This is purchased separately to the licences, and at this stage QB does not have a group arrangement with CCLI for SongSelect. So if a church would like to have a SongSelect account, they will need to hold a Church Copyright Licence (which can be through the QB group deal), but will need to purchase SongSelect directly with CCLI.
For more information about these licences, please see the CCLI website.
